That was a really interesting review - you seem really passionate about this book that seems to have come out of relative obscurity. Perhaps it just wasn't *sexy* enough or not marketed as such - your argument for the book is compelling.

Sometimes I feel like I want to do reviews of some of my favourite books - but unfortunately the ones I tend to read are popular, so it'd be redundant. It's cool that you're not afraid of potentially frumpy ones, and I guess the upside is that you can always put it down if you don't love it.
Damn, I can't wait until I'm done school!

Yeah well Cormorant is a small press and some of their books can get buried but they're sort of a hot bed for CanLit talent - Tessa McWatt, Joseph Boyden and Zoe Whittall all had their first books with the big C.

The cover, sorry Angel Guerra, is not good and I'm sure that didn't help. There's a lot of passion and life in this book and I think the cover should have reflected that (reds! oranges!).

I've reviewed some blockbusters but I try to give the small press books some love. I used to be afraid of their unsexy packaging until I realized that small press doesn't necessarily mean academic or wordy or tedious.

You should do book reviews on your blog! For real. It's the passion that makes the review, no matter if the book's already been covered.

This is the post that really attracted me to your blog- I was intent on doing Because I Have Loved and Hidden It for my bookclub and was looking for a review of the book to attract others too the group and become interested in a book most people hadn't heard and and probably wouldn't have looked twice at because of the lacklustre cover. I loved the review, the book, and so did all the other people in the group, even though it was something almost all of them said they probably would have never picked up otherwise. Great read.

Megan, thank you so much for your comment. It really is comments like this that remind me why I love reviewing books. I'm so happy that you managed to get your book club on board with Because I Have... It's such a delicate book, but so rich, and so full of heart. I really hope Moser writes another book soon.
