Freedom: Daniel Suarez's Sequel to Daemon Landing In Early 2010

My day just got 100% better. How about yours?

Fact: my very first post on this blog was a review of Daniel Suarez's techno thriller Daemon (spring 2009). I'm not much for thrillers but Daemon is a superb hybrid of sci-fi and crime blended with gadgets, cyperpunk bad guys, a fast-paced plot and internet technology galore.

The premise is that a computer program running without human control (a daemon) tries to dismantle society and bring about a new order. Ordinarily, daemons run in the background of your computer without your notice (for example, how your computer runs when you boot it up).

There aren't too many details out yet about the sequel except that we should expect it in early 2010. Author Daniel Suarez's website promises sample chapters. An interview in The Telegraph contained this teaser:

Indeed, without wanting to give too much away, the book’s ending leaves the path clear for a sequel, which Suarez says he is finishing up now: “Freedom is due out early next year. I don’t want to reveal too much, but let’s just say it will definitely go in a direction that will surprise people.”
As soon as I know more I'll clue you in.
